The Blackpill Local History Society was formed in 1987 and over the past 36 years the group has arranged programmes on a wide variety of local history themes.

Specialist speakers provide information and members can also explore themes and topics of interest covering the rich social and industrial heritage of this part of south west Wales.

Monthly meetings (except for August & December) on the third Tuesday from 10.00am.

Everyone is welcome - membership is £10 for the year or £3 per meeting.

Library and Archive

We have a new librarian and archivist. Greg Davies has volunteered for the role and has been busy reorganising the large stock of books and pamphlets held in our library. In the coming months, these will be made available for members to borrow at meetings. We are always on the lookout for new items so if you have anything that you think would be of interest and that you no longer wish to keep, let Greg or myself know. Greg has also been very busy digitising our archive of local material and this will be available to all in the near future.

2024 Programme

The next meeting will take place on Tuesday April 16th when, in a change to the published programme, Robert Johnston will give an illustrated talk on Sir Charles Tamlin Ruthen, Architect, Surveyor & Engineer in Swansea.

All are welcome, 10.00 for a 10.30 start.

The Oystermouth Historical Association has resumed meetings in the Ostreme Hall, Mumbles. For programme details contact:
